Eonian Records Proudly Announces The Debut Single & Video From New Signee RUDEBOY: “Broken Bones”

Indianapolis, Indiana - (Saturday, June 28, 2025) - The first single and title track from Broken Bones debuts with electrifying live footage from the band’s sold-out 1989 show at the legendary Whisky a Go Go. The video produced by Jesse Dave Loren, lead singer of RUDEBOY, is a powerful nod to the raw energy and swagger of the band. The original recordings were meticulously restored by Ron Lubben and Timmy Hagman, then remastered by acclaimed producer and engineer Anthony Focx, known for his work with Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Buckcherry, Slash, and Night Ranger.

Disillusioned with the shifting tides of the LA music scene, RUDE BOY set out to create something raw, real, and impossible to ignore. Fueled by a love for punks’ unfiltered energy and hard rock’s swagger, they forged a sound that was both gritty and undeniably catchy. Broken Bones, their defining release, is everything a hard rock fan craves - rebellious, streetwise, and dripping with sleaze. Born from the neon-drenched chaos of the mid-’80s Sunset Strip, the album channels the hedonism and edge of the era with defiant authenticity. From the opening riff, it's clear: this isn’t overproduced pop-metal, it’s loud, dirty, and unapologetically alive.

The guitars are greasy and unhinged, delivering biting riffs, memorable hooks, and raw grooves that feel as dangerous as they are infectious. The rhythm section holds tight and hits hard, driving each track like a fast car with no brakes. Vocals sneer, channeling the spirit of a whiskey-soaked frontman who’s seen too much and doesn’t care who knows it. But beyond the attitude, Broken Bones shines for its songwriting - an enduring time capsule of hard rock’s golden era before its fall.

“A renewed interest began when some of our old videos resurfaced on social media. It sparked something, not just nostalgia, but a sense that, just maybe, this music still had a pulse. When Eonian Records reached out, we thought an official release would give our longtime friends and fans a chance to celebrate with us and introduce a new generation to the sound and energy of that era.” - David Cheek, lead guitar

“Releasing this collection is something I’ve wanted to do my entire life. It’s deeply personal, like opening a time capsule from a defining era in our journey as a band.” Patrick Mullis, drums

“My hope is that longtime fans will look back and smile at all the great times we shared, because it truly was one of the best chapters of our young lives. They will get a kick out of the remastered music, the in-depth look at the band with all the archival photos, as well as new videos featuring old footage. And if new fans discover RUDEBOY along the way, we are grateful for that too. There are still plenty of platforms and listeners who crave heavy, gritty music. That is the beauty of rock ’n’ roll, it keeps finding new ears.” - Jesse Dave Loren, lead vocals

“After all these years, it is amazing to see Broken Bones finally released. It proves everything we did was not for nothing. We lived through the greatest era of music, and hearing those recordings and seeing those videos I had never heard or seen before is just incredible. But what really makes it special is getting to share it all with my son.” - Drake Duncan, bass

“I am truly honored to be part of what many consider a culturally significant movement, not just in L.A., but in the broader story of American music in the 1980s. The time I spent with RUDEBOY was not just about the music, it was about the camaraderie, the chaos, and, frankly, having more fun than was legal in most states. Somehow, the recordings survived, and now, they are ready to tell the tale.” - David Cheek, lead guitar

“Our goal with this album is to help bring rock 'n' roll back to the forefront - reviving the energy, the fun, and the sense of camaraderie that once defined everything from the studio to the stage. America has always been the heart of rock 'n' roll, and this is our way of keeping that spirit alive.” - Patrick Mullis, drums

“To be honest, I was shocked that the original tapes even existed, let alone that they held up so well. These were not recorded in a high-end studio, like many ’80s releases. But when I heard the new mixes, I was floored. Huge thanks to Ron Lubben, Timmy Hagman, and Anthony Focx for not only preserving the recordings, but breathing new life into them. I also had to laugh, getting signed to a label more than 30 years after your so-called “prime”? Definitely not the norm. But working with Stephen Craig and Eonian Records has been an absolute joy. The team is top-notch, and the final product speaks for itself.” - Jesse Dave Loren, lead vocals

“Working with RUDEBOY was an absolute pleasure. They are one of those rare bands that just get it, no pretense, no ego, simply great songs, and a deep-rooted love for raw, loud rock ’n’ roll. The band was laid-back but patient and focused on capturing the true spirit of what they set out to do nearly several decades ago. Their album Broken Bones is everything the team at Eonian Records loves about real rock music: gritty, rebellious, full of swagger, packed with unforgettable hooks, and as undeniably alive today as it was in the eighty’s.” - Stephen Craig, Eonian Records

RUDEBOY Origins: From Inland Empire Punk Roots to Sunset Strip Rock Mayhem

In 1978, deep in Southern California’s Inland Empire, a raw, defiant punk band called The Stepmothers emerged. Long before the term “Inland Empire” became mainstream, they had already stamped it into local music lore with a track of the same name on their debut album, You Were Never My Age (Posh Boy Records, 1981).

Among the early members was drummer Patrick Mullis, who would become the powerhouse behind The Stepmothers during their most impactful years. Though the band was short-lived, it became legendary in a region with few breakout acts. As punk waned, The Stepmothers unraveled, undone by egos and creative clashes.

Patrick’s story did not end there. After crossing paths with a then-unknown Mötley Crüe, who opened for The Stepmothers at a local gig, Patrick struck up a bond with Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee. The trio shared a mutual love of fast living and late-night chaos.

Patrick’s custom black Ludwig drum kit, featuring thunderous double 26-inch kick drums, became iconic. It was used by Tommy Lee during Mötley Crüe’s performance at the 1983 US Festival and later appeared in Van Halen and Scorpions videos, thanks to Patrick’s friend and Ludwig rep Todd Trent.

One of The Stepmothers' standout tracks, “Rub It In,” co-written by Steve Jones and Jay Lansford, with drums by Patrick, was later performed by Vince Neil, Steve Jones, and Ernie Gay in the short-lived supergroup The Urge. When that group dissolved, Patrick and Ernie regrouped to form the early version of RUDEBOY, bringing in former Stepmothers guitarist David Cheek, who had also jammed with Steve Jones.

By 1985, Patrick had a clear vision: a no-nonsense rock band that fused punk’s edge with high-energy, driven appeal. He called it ‘Hard Fuggen Rock.’

The name RUDEBOY came unexpectedly, during a raucous Inland Empire party, a girl slurred to Patrick, “You’re a very RUDEBOY.” The name stuck. And so did the attitude.

With shared influences like KISS, Motörhead, Hanoi Rocks, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, The Cult, New York Dolls, and Mötley Crüe, RUDEBOY set out to make music that was loud, raw, and irresistible.

“You can hear their influences throughout - KISS, Motörhead, Hanoi Rocks, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, The Cult, New York Dolls, Mötley Crüe, but the sound is uniquely their own. If you are a fan of Guns N’ Roses, L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, or Love/Hate, you will absolutely LOVE Broken Bones. It is a timeless throwback to everything that made the Sunset Strip scene great!” - Stephen Craig, Eonian Records
